Orient House Rooftop Extension

Back in 2007, we were asked to look at a rooftop extension to create dormer style apartments and a new roof over a refurbished mill in Kettering.

Working with our Structural Engineer, Dibsa Structures Ltd and Kingspan we designed a spacious solution creating light and airy dwellings whilst meeting new U-Value requirements.

The use of the Dibsa lightweight steel structure system allowed us to create both the rooms and the pitched roof. The flexibility of this system allowed speedy installation and the ability to overcome any undulations on the existing roof structure.

The Kingspan acted as a tile support sheet and was covered in Eternit slate to match the surroundings. We also had to design a complex drainage solution which involved installing a valley and perimeter gutters in galvanized steel covered with Plygene membrane.
